Sometime in the 90s, fuck if I remember when, Wieden + Kennedy got a hold of Big Steve and was like hey do you want to do some football fight songs for a Nike commercial. And he was like hey guys do you want to record some fuckin' fight songs for a Nike commercial.

And we were like shit...yeah, I guess, I mean it's not SELLING OUT if it's not your song (this was pre-Search and Destroy though post-Burroughs). Do we get shoes? Ans: yes, you get shoes. And some money, which was in short supply back then, as opposed to now when we're all rich.

So we recorded these fucking AWESOME fight songs. Lil snippets of everything you'd want in a scoreboard blast.

Pushed all available buttons on the autoharp. You got your skinhead ska, everyone's favorite kind of music (grunge), Interpolish side of Joy Division, etc. All run into a blender and coated in Crust panko.

Sure enough, they ended up using Rock and Roll Part Two instead. Went with the known pedophile over the unknown non-pedophiles, like it usually goes in the ad game.

Anyway, we've been digging through DATs to find various things...for upcoming reissues of Silkworm's Firewater and Developer records (!)...and these bad boys surfaced like the ping-pong balls they are.

None of these teams are in the 2023 Super Bowl, and one of them no longer exists. But do not let that stop you. HAVE AT IT.
